1984 Image dump by Jingleboy 1984 Image dump by Jingleboy

So, what's this you're looking at?

Well, let me explain.

For University, I was put in a group with other people, and in said group we were to come up with an Interactive Story Experience. (This is what you do if you take a Games Design course, it seems.)

After much deciding, we came to the conclusion we were going to base our story in George Orwell's 1984.

For those who are not familiar with the book, it basically tells us the tale of a world in which there is no freedom, and what life is like. It is where the famous terms "Big Brother" and "Thought Police" originated from.

Anywayz, we decided we were going to make our experience in a Half-Life 2 mod. This gave us a lot of free space and control over what we wanted to do. The images you see above were created by me and were placed around the in-game world. Each image was used to create some form of atmosphere to the dark game.

Theses images branch from selling "Victory Products", which are basically cheap imitations the Government in "1984" supply to the people, as well as posters which force the Inner party's rules on the people of Oceania.

There were pretty fun to make, as there was a bit of a theme going on in each one, making it "Derelict" and "Decayed".

Every single image was done in Photoshop, though some of them have elements taken from google searches. (Such as the Victory coffee cup, and the poster which I made cancelled.)

Reason I'm uploading this is that I realise I DO do some art, but I never really bother with it after its done, since it's for other purposes. So here you can see the work I did for one of my classes. I'm still waiting for the marks on this one.

Everything I nicked off Google is (C) to their respective owners

I like the "Victory" brand stuff especially, almost could be a real product. Except creepy.

Thanks for the comment! Glad you like the Victory brand posters, those were the first posters I designed, and I put the most "effort" into. =P

I actually made the "Victory Food" poster last, hence the edges seem more ripped than the others.

Very nice Photoshoppin'! It kicks the butt of almost everything of the same nature that has been produced by my classmates in computer art graphics classes. :B
The images all merged together well enough that it's easy to forget they all started as bits and pieces from separate files. It gives the illusion that it was generated from the ground up as one file and that there were never pieces brought in from elsewhere for a 'digital collage'.
It's a creepy theme, even the "Victory Products" seem eerie to me.
I read n' enjoyed 1984 at some point. Seeing this helped to bring back alot of the story that I'd forgotten. Though you may have to remind me what the "cancelled" thing was about again.
Also, "Games Design" sounds like an intriguing class. :eyes:

Heh, thanks. Originally, every single poster was individual, but for the easiness, I added them all together.

Glad you find it eerie, cause that's what we were aiming for. =P And also, the "Cancelled" thing was a reference to the book why it's pointed out most of the big shows are cancelled by the Inner Party before they take place.

Game Design is actually my course. Sadly, currently it's not been as awesome as it sounds. There has been less Video Game design and more Board game design. I'll need to upload that at some point too.

Do upload the board game stuffs. :D
I've noticed that here, too- most courses that sound awesome actually leave you wanting.
I don't know if the same thing applies at your school, but here, professors get paid based on the number of students that sign up for their classes... NOT the number that finish class.
Hmm...... I detect the foul scent of trickery. Those sneaky professors. :XD:

Heh, I'll upload them later then.

I think we have the same system here too, that is the lecturer gets paid to teach 40 odd students, even if only 12 turn up. He tried to use it as one of those "Guilt trip" things about how everyone is gonna fail the course. Then he complains that if everyone DOES fail the course, he has to do this long report on how we failed the course. It's kinda win/lose. =P
